It lasted about 3-4 years. Most of the small engine guys in my area won't even touch a Tecumseh, of course, it's Tecumsay, when they pronounce it. This ~50 year old machine starts first pull and runs with no smoke. Granted, Tecumseh engines don't have the best reputation, but I've seen many of these old snow engines still around ...
