I liked the official hikes, notably PR1 (Pico Areeiro to Pico Ruivo), the Fanal area, PR8 (Vereda da Ponta de Sao Lourenco) and of course PR6 (25 fontes). My favorite hike was the one along Levada do Caldeirao Verde.
