WebSep 11, 2024 · Here are my findings. The 716 isn't as proprietary as everyone believes. It's a bit of a Frankenstein. The receiver threads for the barrel nut are armalite pattern, 1 7/16" - 18 TPI. The bolt and barrel extension however are DPMS pattern. So barrel upgrades and caliber changes are very much possible.
